When you’re buying a new home, finding the top restaurants and bars near you is always a fun - and delicious - way to discover your new neighborhood. Check out my top places to eat and drink in Scottsdale:
There is so much to choose from in Old Town, Scottsdale. How do you know what or where the best places to dine out are? If you're in need of a recommendation, below are my top 5 places that have a fun atmosphere, quality food, service, and memorable dining experiences for you and your guests. Although there are so many top eats here in the greater Phoenix area, Old Town has an energetic feel to the area that draws people in from all over. So the first pick on my list is Barrio Queen.

Barrio Queen
If you have never been here you are missing out on top-quality family recipes and their award-winning Skinny Chola Margarita. It’s a must-have if you visit! Their authentic regional cuisine was created by James Beard awarded Best Chef: Southwest chef Silvana Salcido Esparza who’s no longer an owner of the restaurant, but her recipes live on and are so delicious. Anything from pork pibil tacos to mole enchiladas and tableside guacamole brings joy to the heart and the stomach.
Maple and Ash
Now this place might be a little hard on the wallet but it is easily the best steakhouse in Old Town, Scottsdale. The service is impeccable and the dishes are unforgettable - incorporating a wood-burning element into every dish. This dining experience is crafted by Two Michelin Star Chef Danny Grant and one you won't soon forget. As a real estate agent, it is one of the spots I love to bring clients after celebrating a sale of your home or purchase of your dream property. If you have anything to celebrate, Maple and Ash is the most extravagant experience and for you winos out there, Wine Spectator has recognized their wine list as the “most outstanding in the world”.
Olive and Ivy
Brunch, lunch, happy hour, dinner, or even a stop at their marketplace Olive and Ivy is the place to go. Their food is elegant and well-balanced and the atmosphere is like no other sitting on the canal in the heart of Old Town, Scottsdale. I highly recommend getting a spot on the patio, but wherever you sit, you will enjoy the experience. My go-to meal is to start off with a cocktail, of course. The seasonal Apricot Paloma is refreshing and light with just a touch of sweetness and their Bacon wrapped dates which are stuffed with sausage and enhanced with a piquillo pepper sauce are a must order as a starter. As for the main dish, it’s always difficult to pick, but the sea bass in their lemon caper sauce is a great summer dish that will leave you feeling full and satisfied.
Cala
If you want a hip and cool spot that still serves up the best, Cala has your authentic coastal cuisine. They offer an indoor/outdoor concept with a massive patio bar creating an inviting and lively atmosphere. A great spot for the start of your 'Sunday Funday' or a sexy evening out to relax and have maybe one too many wines. Cala is a newer restaurant to the scene that leaves a lasting impression.
Sugar Bowl
This iconic ice cream shop has been around since 1958! Yes, they do have a menu with your typical diner classics of tuna melts, Ruebens, chili soup and more, but the real treat is their deserts. Ice cream bowls, sundaes, splits, and floats, there is something for everyone. It is a playful and fun atmosphere and a good way to cool off in the heat!
